The 12 zodiac symbols are ♈ ♉ ♊ ♋ ♌ ♍ ♎ ♏ ♐ ♑ ♒ ♓. Click any glyph below to copy it, then paste it into your bio, chart, or document. They run in Unicode from U+2648 (Aries) to U+2653 (Pisces). Full codes and typing methods are underneath.
These are the Western astrological signs, in calendar order from Aries through Pisces. Each one is a single Unicode character, so it works anywhere text works, no image needed.
All 12 zodiac symbols with codes
One table, every sign. The Alt code column is decimal (what you type on the numeric keypad). The Unicode column is hex (what you use for Word’s Alt+X, Chromebook, and CSS). They are different numbers for the same character, so don’t type the hex value into an Alt code.
| Symbol | Sign | Dates | Unicode (hex) | Alt code (decimal) | HTML |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ♈ | Aries | Mar 21 – Apr 19 | U+2648 | Alt+9800 | ♈ |
| ♉ | Taurus | Apr 20 – May 20 | U+2649 | Alt+9801 | ♉ |
| ♊ | Gemini | May 21 – Jun 20 | U+264A | Alt+9802 | ♊ |
| ♋ | Cancer | Jun 21 – Jul 22 | U+264B | Alt+9803 | ♋ |
| ♌ | Leo | Jul 23 – Aug 22 | U+264C | Alt+9804 | ♌ |
| ♍ | Virgo | Aug 23 – Sep 22 | U+264D | Alt+9805 | ♍ |
| ♎ | Libra | Sep 23 – Oct 22 | U+264E | Alt+9806 | ♎ |
| ♏ | Scorpio | Oct 23 – Nov 21 | U+264F | Alt+9807 | ♏ |
| ♐ | Sagittarius | Nov 22 – Dec 21 | U+2650 | Alt+9808 | ♐ |
| ♑ | Capricorn | Dec 22 – Jan 19 | U+2651 | Alt+9809 | ♑ |
| ♒ | Aquarius | Jan 20 – Feb 18 | U+2652 | Alt+9810 | ♒ |
| ♓ | Pisces | Feb 19 – Mar 20 | U+2653 | Alt+9811 | ♓ |
Unicode’s official names use the constellation form: “Aries” is ARIES, “Scorpio” is SCORPIUS. Search results treat them as the same thing, so either spelling finds the glyph in a picker.
Why they look different on your phone vs your laptop
Zodiac signs sit in an emoji range, so the same character can render two ways: a flat monochrome glyph on desktop, a colored emoji on many phones. Nothing is broken. If you need one look every time, add a variation selector. Aries is the example below; the same two selectors work on all 12 signs.
| Copy this | Renders as | Code points |
|---|---|---|
| ♈ | Platform decides (usually mono on desktop, color on mobile) | U+2648 |
| ♈︎ | Forced monochrome — use for documents and print | U+2648 U+FE0E |
| ♈️ | Forced color emoji everywhere | U+2648 U+FE0F |
For a spreadsheet or a printed chart, the text-forced version keeps it plain. For a bio or a chat, the emoji-forced version stays colored across devices.
How to type zodiac symbols
Copying from the table above is fastest. If you’d rather type them, here are the methods that actually work per platform.
Windows
Hold Alt and type the decimal code on the numeric keypad — Alt+9800 for Aries. This needs a real numeric keypad and works in Word, WordPad, and Outlook; it’s unreliable in Notepad and some browsers. The method that always works: press Win+. (period) to open the emoji panel, search the sign name, and click. Character Map (search it from Start) is the third option.
Mac
There are no Option-key shortcuts for zodiac signs. Open the Character Viewer with Ctrl+Cmd+Space, type the sign name in the search box, and double-click the glyph.
Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
In Word, type the hex code and press Alt+X: type 2648, press Alt+X, and it flips to ♈. That trick is Word-only (plus Outlook and OneNote). In Excel, use =UNICHAR(9800), note UNICHAR takes the decimal number, not the hex. PowerPoint has no formula and no Alt+X; use Insert → Symbol or paste.
Google Docs and Sheets
In Docs, go to Insert → Special characters, then search “aries” or draw the shape to find it. Sheets has no such menu, use =UNICHAR(9800), or paste the glyph into a cell (press F2 first to enter edit mode if an OS input panel misbehaves).
iPhone and Android
Neither keyboard has a zodiac key by default. Paste from this page, or set up a text replacement, map a shortcut like ;aries to ♈ (iOS: Settings → General → Keyboard → Text Replacement; Android: Settings → System → Languages → Personal dictionary). After that it appears as you type.
Chromebook
ChromeOS has no Alt codes. Press Ctrl+Shift+U, type the hex code 2648 (no U+ prefix), then Enter or Space. An underlined u confirms input mode. Or open the symbol picker with Launcher+Shift+Space. If a web field swallows the shortcut, paste instead.
Notion, Slack, Discord, and Canva
None of these have a keyboard code for zodiac glyphs. Paste them. Slack and Discord will also render the emoji shortcodes like :aries: in the message box. In Canva, paste into a text box; the sign inherits the box’s font. To reuse a sign constantly in any of these, lean on the OS text replacement above — it follows you into every app.
Where people use zodiac symbols
Instagram, TikTok, and dating-app bios, where a single ♌ says more than “Leo.” Discord nicknames and status lines. Birth-chart spreadsheets and astrology worksheets. Group-chat names. Printable planners. The copy-and-paste symbol tool keeps the whole set handy if you use them often.
What each sign means
Each glyph is a stylized shorthand for its sign: Aries ♈ is the ram’s horns, Taurus ♉ the bull’s head and horns, Leo ♌ the lion’s mane and tail, Scorpio ♏ the arrow-tipped tail, Capricorn ♑ the sea-goat. Libra ♎ shows the balance scales, Aquarius ♒ the waves of the water-bearer, Pisces ♓ two fish tied together. They’re read left to right in the same order as the astrological year, which starts at Aries.
